This year's second Men's Stag was our Scotch and Cigar Edition. This event has always been popular but now more than ever. People have so much fun (maybe a little too much fun) we have to limit this to once a year. Last year we began requiring each member to bring a guest as that is how a traditional stag works and everyone seems to enjoy that. This event was our first time requiring every player to have GHIN handicap which was a lot more work than I thought. Upon arriving the men were provided cigars, matches and a cutter and came in for a prime rib dinner and scotch tasting (or in some instances chugging). We had four flights (based on handicap) and first and second place was paid out in each flight. Lots of scotch was consumed, laughs were had and golf was played. Until next year!
This event was definitely the highlight of the year for the ladies. With a record number of participants they started the morning off with mimosas, breakfast, beautiful centerpieces and PERFECT weather. The ladies played 18 holes with their guests and were welcomed by The FootJoy Mobile Shoe Store when they finished golf. Every participant ordered a pair of FootJoy shoes compliments of The Players Club. Over half of the ladies upgraded their shoes and there were some really great shoes to chose from. They finished the night with hors d' oeuvres, prizes and awards. Three flights were paid out and four pin prizes were gifted. Congratulations to Steph Kopecky and her mother and guest, Trish Oster. They walked away with trophies, shop credit and bragging rights that they had won the largest Ladies Member Guest on the books. I have already received several emails about how great this event was from the food to the prizes everything was perfect and we sure appreciate and thought so too! Thanks to all the played we are looking forward to another great event next year.
What a beautiful night we got for Camping on the Green. Despite the bugs that joined us while grilling and fishing on #16 the night couldn't have been better. We all set up our tents on #1 without too much trouble and drove on down to fish which believe it or not is the most popular activity for the kiddos. I know a lot of people (myself included) dread even just the idea of camping with little ones all night. Let me tell you, the kids absolutely love it and it really isn't that bad especially after a few cocktails. I would say its more glamping than camping. We have restrooms available all night, a full bar, fire pit for s'mores and breakfast served to us in the morning. Look out for Camping on the Green next year as changes are in store.
